ABOUT THE EVENT

Join us for an evening with our current Hyper Local artists-in-residence, Aaron Claringbold & Rebecca McCauley, alongside our BREEZE: Perth-Makassar exchange artist, Aziziah Diah Aprilya, for an evening to peek inside their studios and see what they’ve been working on during their time at PICA.

During their six-month residency at PICA, Rebecca and Aaron have been using their time to consolidate their project What can I say without touching the earth with my hands, a new body of images which considers people’s interconnected relationships with their environments. The project was initiated during a residency with ART ON THE MOVE in Shark Bay and facilitated by the Shire of Shark Bay. It continues to be developed in conversation with Malgana Traditional Owners and Rangers, DBCA staff, scientists and members of the community.

Makassan artist Aziziah Diah Aprilya has spent the past four weeks in Boorloo/Perth as part of BREEZE, a residency exchange between Western Australian and Makassan artists that facilitates cultural exchange and develops international connections. Aprilya’s project has focused on the plants, myths and stories representing cultural and ecological ties between the two regions.

Facilitated by artist and ART ON THE MOVE Project Coordinator, Kristen Brownfield, don’t miss your chance to hear directly from the artists about their projects and residency experiences.
