ABOUT THE EVENT

Inspired by Persian carpets, Indian textiles and the natural landscapes of her Western Australian childhood, Second Generation Collective artist Asha Kiani has created a vibrant mural in the PICA Hub that explores themes of home, memory and belonging.

Drawing on Middle Eastern and South Asian patterns and symbols, Asha’s work celebrates love, identity and the ways we connect. Like a Persian rug, it weaves together many stories into a shared tapestry.

Visitors are invited to design their own motif inspired by what ‘home’ means to them. You can add your creation to the growing community artwork in the Hub or keep it as a personal reminder to carry with you, wherever you go.

Each Saturday, the PICA Hub also hosts relaxed drop-in sessions where visitors of all ages can learn art techniques, enjoy slow and mindful making, and connect across generations. Led by our PICA staff, these hands-on activities create opportunities to share stories, reflect and make together, building community through art.
