The Butcher Shop have just announced the launch of a number of free visual art learning resources, designed with trained teachers especially for Western Australian high school students.
The Butcher Shop, with retail outlets in Northbridge and Fremantle, is an store specialising in Urban Art supplies and books. The store is very supportive of connecting student’s art learning experiences in the classroom with the working arts industry in Perth. With this in mind, the staff at The Butcher Shop have developed a self guided Walking Tour of Urban Art in Northbridge with a linked learning resource pack ready to use for secondary art students. All activities are in line with the K-10 Syllabus and can be downloaded for free at: www.thebutchershop.com.au/resources.
Perth City offers a wealth of Urban Art on the streets of Northbridge for students to gain inspiration for their artwork or to develop their understanding of visual arts in society.
The Urban Art Walking Tour package has been specifically designed to develop students’ skills in perspective and an understanding of colour, line and pattern. It would be a great starting point of inspiration for any painting, sculpture, drawing, print making or painting projects that you have planned or just as a tool to enrich students’ understanding of the arts industry on a local level.
This package is the first release, with further activities, worksheets and lesson planners currently being developed to assist teachers in implementing Urban Art focused courses.
