Exciting additions to the Perth Cultural Centre
Let's be friends
An LED screen, feature lighting and a new children’s play space are some of the latest additions being introduced into the Perth Cultural Centre (PCC).
Works will commence on site next week and will be completed in time for the People’s Space that will be held in the PCC during CHOGM in October 2011.
The new children’s play space will be installed in front of the WA Museum. The design has been inspired by nature and features large carved timber animals, walking logs and timber platforms. A 36 square metre LED screen will be installed in the James Street mall amphitheatre. The screen will provide opportunities for the resident cultural institutions and other arts organisations to share content, experiences, ideas and innovations with the general public.
The addition of seven new CCTV cameras and three emergency phones will further improve safety and security throughout the PCC while a range of feature lighting for the trees and various heritage façades throughout the precinct will be used to activate and add interest to the precinct.
Other improvement works include additional shade for the Urban Orchard and new directional signage. Earlier this week, the James Street entrance to the City of Perth’s State Library car park was permanently closed. This closure will enable the space to be upgraded into an active alfresco and pedestrian area connecting the PCC with Northbridge.
EPRA’s improvement works will complement features such as the free WiFi access, the Urban Orchard and Wetland, and make a visit to the PCC an even more comfortable and engaging experience.

Access to the State Library Car Park via Francis Street will remain open. For information about other parking alternatives, contact City of Perth Parking on 1300 889 613 or email info.city@cityofperth.wa.gov.au.
