Creating the William Street strip
Let's be friends
William Street in Northbridge has a colourful history and unique identity built on its reputation for emerging fashion, entertainment, cultural diversity and cuisine. It’s an important link from Mount Lawley to Northbridge and through to Perth’s waterfront and will play a big part in the future growth of the city.
This much loved and once down trodden street is on its way to realising its full potential as a cutting-edge creative industry, retail and food and beverage strip, whilst retaining the street’s identity, existing uses, character and charm. As 16 properties in the heritage precinct are being tenderly restored, a carefully considered strategy is underway to attract commercial and creative businesses with a local, independent focus.
The retailers, food and beverage operators and creatives that have already stepped forward to take up residence or continue to trade, create and work in these beautiful heritage buildings, are exactly the kind of tenants that will see William Street, Northbridge rival Leederville and Mount Lawley as the place to be.
For retail experiences local boutique outlets Pigeonhole, Tu and the people behind Yo Yo Buffalo and Elroy have something new up their sleeve for William Street.
For mind expanding experiences the Outre Gallery and New Edition Bookshop will be welcome additions to the strip, while Allphones and the Happy Herb Shop will help you keep in touch with your family and your wellbeing. The Barber Shop will continue to provide all important grooming services.
Johann Kim, owner of Pigeonhole says he believes William Street will become a marker for the most interesting West Australian shopping, dining and cafes which is why it’s an ideal location for his growing business.
More announcements coming soon including very exciting places to eat after a day of shopping and small bar hopping. Just wait til you see what’s coming.
The final stage of the William Street program will be the revitalisation of the historic Rechabites Hall as a multi-concept venue. Details will be unveiled in the coming months.
