Events in the Perth Cultural Centre to continue past the summer months
Let's be friends
Large scale photographic artworks, projections that reveal the inner workings of a theatre and a car show for Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts are some of the highlights featuring in the Perth Cultural Centre this month.
EPRA CEO Tony Morgan said attracting community and cultural events to the Perth Cultural Centre is an ongoing priority for EPRA and vital to transforming the area into an exciting destination for locals and visitors to enjoy.
One of the attractions in the Perth Cultural Centre showing now until 17 April supported by EPRA, is the Blue Room Theatre’s Inside Out projections, celebrating 21 years of independent theatre and their new season.
A wall art sequence will be screened onto the Blue Room Theatre’s bricked wall façade and as the wall appears to fall away from the building, footage of productions staged at the Theatre will be shown through the projected 'debris'.
Currently on display in the Perth Cultural Centre is FotoFreo’s Oculi Retrospective large scale outdoor photographic exhibition which is showing until 18 April and supported by EPRA.
Also this month, the Mercedes-Benz National Rally and 50th Anniversary display will transform the Perth Cultural Centre into a haven for Mercedes enthusiasts when around 50 cars converge on the area on Sunday 25 April between 10.30am and 3.00pm.
The Art Gallery of Western Australia’s Artbar music series, now in its second year, opened last night with an open air concert featuring Paul Dempsey in the Perth Cultural Centre. EPRA provided sponsorship support for this event.
“It’s great to see the organisations in the Perth Cultural Centre enjoying the transformation of the precinct and engaging with the public space in creative, inclusive and innovative ways for the community to enjoy,” Mr Morgan said.
In 2010, EPRA has also supported the Perth International Arts Festival family favourite Appearing Rooms water installation by Danish artist Jeppe Hein, as well as the boutique music event St Jerome’s Laneway Festival.
The State Government’s $11 million revitalisation of William Street and the Perth Cultural Centre is continuing and new developments including retail pods, an urban orchard and wetlands will be completed in the coming months.
