A popular addition to Perth’s indie market calendar, Made on the Left, showcases the best of Western Australian independent design and manufacturing. The next market day will be on Sunday 29th July at the State Theatre Centre of Western Australia from 10am-4pm.Cuddle up with handmade cushions from Algerika Design & Illustration, stock up on letterpress cards from Fluid Ink, forsake gloom for glamour with accessories and jewellery by Joallie Petit and Tall Rabbit, keep kids happy with toys from Poppy & Bea or Little Cloud Factory and brighten your surroundings with photography from Buttercomb or pottery from Happs Pottery.
“The Made on the Left market is a platform for independent designers and small business operators to test their products commercially, build their database and hopefully sell their goods!” explains co-founder, Jacquie Hughes.
“Over 65 small business people will have the opportunity to offer their products direct to the public. It’s a fun, relaxed environment and we only promote businesses that manufacture their products in Western Australia. It’s about supporting local industry.”
Made on the Left, formed in 2008, creates events and activities to promote independent art, design and fashion from all around Western Australia. Successful stallholders must feature their own designs at the markets, with all products either handmade by the designer or fully produced in WA.
“The handmade design ethos reflected at Made on the Left Markets is very on trend with the industry right now. In a world driven by mass production, there is a move towards buying something unique and one-of-a-kind,” says Jacquie.
