LOUISE BOURGEOIS: THE SPIDER, THE MISTRESS AND THE TANGERINE

Louise Bourgeois (American, born France. 1911-2010) Louise Bourgeois was for six decades an important and influential figure in the world of modern art. In 1982, at the age of 71, she became the first woman to be honoured with a major retrospective at New York’s Museum of Modern Art.

Best known for her series of massive spider structures, Louise Bourgeois: The Spider, the Mistress and the Tangerine is a comprehensive examination of her creative process.

Dr Ann Shilo, Senior Lecturer, School of Design & Art, Faculty of Humanities, Curtin University will whet our appetites in the APPRECIATING talk before the screening.

Date: Monday 24 September
Time: 6 – 9.30pm (refreshments @ 6pm, lecture 6:30pm, followed by film)
